Recruited to raise awareness of National Engineers Week
(NEW) to a wider public spectrum. Developed one minute TV promotion
pieces in partnership with entertainment industry. Wrote articles and
produced profiles on scientists who now work in Hollywood. Established
Internet talk session with Star Trek staff writer, Dr. Naren Shankar.
Received special recognition by the chair for unique contributions,
which resulted in increased public acceptance for NEW publication.
Purdue University, Founder, Co-Director of National
Physics Outreach Program, 1992
to 1995
Instructor of Physics and other science courses, developed
course material, supervised teaching assistant, wrote and graded examinations.
Served as interim state outreach director, approved and expanded to
a national program by Purdue University, 1991. Responsibilities included
creation of national museums and schools projects, funding procurement,
public relations, designing and publishing outreach materials and products,
and the design of a new 3-D education kit currently marketed through
Arbor Scientific.
Purdue University, Director of Corporate Affairs,
Department of Physics, 1992 to 1995
Increased research and corporate funding, built creative
partnerships to advance education and was responsible for raising corporate
image for Department of Physics. Contributions included 80% increase
of research funding from 1990 to 1995, 70% increase for Alumni funding
from 1990 to 1995, design and published annual reports and department
brochures, established Permanent Memorial Scholarships program, initiated
TQM program, created and submitted department grants, and established
unique partnerships with corporations including Paramount Pictures,
Marvel Comics, and General Electric.
