Donald Trump Reportedly Angry About Big Legal Fees As Investigations Heat Up

Donald Trump has reportedly grown angry over the big legal fees he faces as a pair of investigations look into his business dealings and bring the potential for criminal charges.

A pair of business probes in New York are bringing increasingly serious legal peril to Trump, with one moving from a civil to criminal investigation. A new report claims that the now-former president has been stuck with big legal fees as he responds to the investigations, which has left him frustrated.

Trump In Trouble

A new report from the Daily Beast claimed that Trump is growing increasingly peeved at having to pay legal fees for the investigations, calling them “such a pain in the a**.”

As Business Insider noted, insiders close to Trump say he is also worried that the investigations could drag on for years, which would likely hurt his chances of running for president again. Trump has not yet announced whether he intends to run for office again in 2024, but many see him as a top contender should he choose to go again.

Legal Troubles Ahead

While insiders have reportedly tried to soothe Trump over the investigations, those leading the probes have become increasingly vocal about the danger he could face. Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. announced this week that he had convened a grand jury that would consider potential criminal charges against Trump or others from his company.

It was not yet clear what potential charges Trump could face, or just how long the grand jury will be considering evidence against him and his company.

Trump Fights Back

As the Washington Post noted, Trump blasted the grand jury as a witch hunt.

“This is purely political, and an affront to the almost 75 million voters who supported me in the Presidential Election, and it’s being driven by highly partisan Democrat prosecutors,” Trump said. “Our Country is broken, our elections are rigged, corrupt, and stolen, our prosecutors are politicized, and I will just have to keep on fighting like I have been for the last five years!”

Other Potential Trouble

As probes in Manhattan and New York state move forward, Trump could face damage from other investigations. Democrats have pushed for an investigation of exactly what took place during the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Though Republicans in the U.S. Senate prevented a commission from being formed, there will likely be other probes at the committee level in the House and Senate and some have pushed for President Joe Biden to establish a presidential commission. This investigation could also look into the role Trump played by repeating falsehoods about the 2020 presidential election.
