DWP confirms state pension to rise next year but half a million pensioners won’t get boost

THE UK state pension will rise next year, albeit not under the usual triple lock mechanism, the Secretary of State of Work and Pensions has confirmed today. Speaking in the House of Commons, Thérèse Coffey said a temporary suspension would be brought in, due to the impact the coronavirus pandemic has had on the earnings element of the triple lock. While it will still increase, not every pensioner will get the boost.
