Lala Kent Confirms New ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Don’t Have ‘Tremendous Storylines’

Lala Kent is speaking out about the upcoming ninth season of Vanderpump Rules, which is set to begin airing on Bravo this fall.

While appearing on the Chicks in the Office podcast, Kent opened up about the cast shakeups that have occurred since season eight, including the June 2020 firings of Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Max Boyens, and Brett Caprioni, and the exits of Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright, who were rumored to have been fired in December 2020 but denied it.

Lala Kent Feels ‘Lucky’ To Be Back

After telling the hosts she was "so lucky" to be invited back to the Vanderpump Rules cast for season nine, via Heavy, Kent added that she was “concerned what it was going to look like" following the cast changes that took place.

"The stakes are much higher,” she continued. “We’re older, we’re building families and businesses.”

In addition to telling new stories on season nine, Kent confirmed several newcomers.

“You’ll see new faces but they will not be as heavily shoved down your throat as they were season 8,” she shared. “It makes us all happy… none of these new faces have tremendous storylines.”

Charli Burnett Is Returning For ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Season Nine

Although three of the four full-time cast members from season eight will not be back for season nine of Vanderpump Rules, Kent confirmed Charli Burnett will be.

“You know Charli comes back,” Kent said. “Charli’s back on the show and she’ll be a familiar face from season 8 and she’s amazing, she’s part of the crew now, and her boyfriend’s great. So I’m really excited, I think people will be pleasantly surprised by the way that we just kept it moving.”

Lala Kent Thought Season Eight Would Be The ‘Best’

Following the addition of the newbies who joined after season seven, Kent was quite vocal about there being too many new faces. And, during an appearance on the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef, Kent admitted she was mistaken when she thought season eight would be the show’s "best season" yet.

"I watched it and I couldn’t even get through an episode,” she said, noting there were too many new people.

“I was like, this is what even is this?” she recalled.

‘Vanderpump Rules’ Season Nine Will Be ‘Very Different’

Lala Kent wears gold necklaces with her hair down.

“How do you even follow anything that’s going on? Like way too many new faces, way too big of storylines for people that are brand new. Like no one’s invested in these people. And you know, now look at where we are. None of those people are even on the show, we spend an entire season like trying to make them happen," she said.

Kent then noted that season nine will be “very different” from season eight.

“I think everybody learned from last year and said, we’re not doing that again,” she added.
