MLB News: Max Scherzer Making Rehab Start On Tuesday

The New York Mets have had an eventful season, to say the least. A year that's been filled with them being one of the best teams in baseball, it's been even more impressive because of the injuries that they've had to deal with to Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer.

Fortunately for Mets fans, there's some good news as Max Scherzer is going to make a rehab start on Tuesday.

What Does This Mean For The Mets And Scherzer?

If things do go according to plan for Max Scherzer and the New York Mets, there's a legitimate chance that he could be pitching sometime as soon as Sunday in Miami against the Marlins.

With how well the Mets have played, they've allowed themselves to wait a bit and make sure that he is fully healthy. It's tough to say that the scenario was good for the Mets, but we can look at it as a positive thing because now Max Scherzer should be recovered and be 100% healthy for the remainder of the year, which is when the Mets are going to need him most.

Scherzer Was Elite Before Injury

Before getting injured, there was a legitimate argument to be made that Max Scherzer might have still been the best pitcher in all of baseball. He had a 2.54 ERA and a 0.95 whip. On top of those impressive numbers, he also managed to strike out 59 hitters in the only 49.2 Innings pitched.

If he can come back and do exactly what he was doing prior to his injury, the New York Mets are going to be a scary team to play.

deGrom Not Back, So This Is Ideal

With Jacob deGrom still being injured and the New York Mets not knowing exactly when he's going to return, this is the perfect situation for the Mets. With Max Scherzer back, the Mets are now going to have a much bigger leeway to continue being the best team in the National League.

Mets Might Win A World Series

There's a strong feeling around the baseball world right now that the New York Mets might be the team to beat in the National League. They're currently 45-24 and have the best record in the National League, in front of the Los Angeles Dodgers who are 40-25.

With the Mets finally starting to get healthy now, this is an amazing time to be a fan. If they can manage to keep Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom healthy when he does return, this Mets team might be the favorite to win it all.
