MLB Rumors: 3 Potential Targets For The Los Angeles Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers entered the 2022 MLB season as the team to beat out of the National League. As long as they were healthy, they'd be World Series contenders from day one, even if Trevor Bauer wasn't able to come back in any capacity.

Fast-forward to today and that hasn't changed the slightest. However, injuries, inconsistent offense, and their status as a contender could lead them to add even more talent before the deadline.

Dodgers Could Use More Help

It's not a secret that the Dodgers are the most stacked team in the league right now. However, they won't hesitate or spare anything to give their already impressive roster a big boost.

With that in mind, let's take a look at the only three players that could actually improve their team, and the guy they should target as Major League Baseball's trade deadline continues to inch closer:

David Bednar

It's safe to say that the Craig Kimbrel addition hasn't been as good as expected. He's been wildly inconsistent and the ninth inning has been a nail-biter more often than not. Maybe it's the Kenley Jansen curse, maybe he's not that guy anymore.

David Bednar has just been selected to the All-Star Game for very good reasons. He's been lights out for the ever-struggling Pittsburgh Pirates, boasting a 3-2 with a 2.63 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 15 saves in 34 games. He could also serve as their set-up if they want to trust Blake Treinen when he comes back.

Michael Taylor

The Dodgers need to accept that Cody Bellinger is not coming back to his pre-2021 form. It's been half of the season already and he's just not that player anymore, struggling mightily at the plate and hampering the team's offense night in and night out.

The Kansas City Royals might have the solution for that issue. Michael Taylor is having a breakout year and is one of the few right-handed centerfielders who could be up for grabs. He could be pricey as he's under team control for another two years, though.

Frankie Montas

We already addressed Trevor Bauer's situation. Well, Dustin May has yet to pitch this year, Walker Buehler is injured, and Clayton Kershaw has been in and out of the Injured List for most of the season.

Julio Urías hasn't been the same dominant ace he was last season, so the Dodgers could look to Frankie Montas to bolster their rotation while their stars are back on the mound. He's the best pitcher available and will come at a steep price considering how many teams will look to get him, but he's the guy they need.
