NBA Rumors: GSW Could Acquire Paul George For Wiggins, Paschall, Poole & Future First-Rounder In Proposed Blockbuster

After a quiet 2021 trade deadline, the Golden State Warriors are expected to resume their pursuit of their fourth superstar in the 2021 offseason. A healthy Klay Thompson may be expected to join Stephen Curry and Draymond Green in the 2021-22 NBA season, but with the emergence of strong contenders in the league, the Warriors will need more star power on their roster in order to have a legitimate chance of fully dominating the Western Conference and winning the NBA championship title next year.

Warriors Could Target Paul George In 2021 Offseason

In a recent article, Lee Tran of Fadeaway World created a list of superstars that the Warriors could target on the trade market in the 2021 offseason. These include All-Star small forward Paul George of the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers haven’t shown a strong indication that they are planning to move George after the 2020-21 NBA season but if they suffer another huge disappointment, he and Leonard may consider leaving the Clippers this summer.

George may be under contract with the Clippers until the 2024-25 NBA season, but if he expresses his desire to leave, the Clippers would be left with no choice but to entertain offers for him on the trade market.

Potential GSW’s Trade Package To Acquire Paul George

Tran came up with a blockbuster trade idea that would enable the Warriors to acquire George from the Clippers in the 2021 offseason. In the proposed trade scenario, the Warriors would send a package that includes Andrew Wiggins, Eric Paschall, Jordan Poole, and a future first-round pick to the Clippers in exchange for George.

“The Warriors could entice the Los Angeles Clippers with a package centered around Andrew Wiggins, who is a great two-way player who can contribute on both ends. Wiggins has had a career year from beyond the arc with the Golden State Warriors (40.0% from 3PT range), all while playing elite defense. Eric Paschall could be a solid option at the PF position, while Jordan Poole is a young guard with a lot of promise. The future first-round pick will be a great asset for the future.”

Warriors Revive ‘Death Lineup’ With Paul George

The successful acquisition of George would allow the Warriors to revive their “Death Lineup” with Curry, Thompson, and Green in the 2021-22 NBA season. George may not be as good as Kevin Durant, but he’s capable of filling the huge hole that he left on the Warriors’ wing. He would give them a very reliable scoring option next to Curry and Thompson, as well as a great rebounder, playmaker, perimeter defender, and an elite three-point shooter.

This season, the 30-year-old small forward is averaging 22.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 1.1 steals while shooting 47.2 percent from the field and 43.1 percent from beyond the arc, per ESPN.

Paul George Could Make Warriors The Best In The West

After spending his entire career as either first or second scoring option, it would definitely take George some time to familiarize himself with the Warriors’ team that has three All-Stars on their roster. However, if he meshes well with Curry, Thompson, and Green, George could make the Warriors a more dangerous team in the 2021-22 NBA season.

Having the “Big Four” of George, Curry, Thompson, and Green would give the Warriors a better chance of replacing the LeBron James and Antony Davis led Los Angeles Lakers as the best team in the Western Conference. Also, their revived “Death Lineup” would enable them to have a better matchup against the Brooklyn Nets’ superteam.
