NFL Rumors: Cowboys Could Make A Run At Von Miller

Dan Quinn's arrival did wonders for the Dallas Cowboys. They went from having one of the worst defensive units in the league in 2020 to having quite the stout, physical unit the very next year, notably anchored by star rookie Micah Parsons.

But now, their defense has taken a massive hit with the loss of Randy Gregory, who's set to become the latest Denver Broncos big-name signing.

Randy Gregory's U-Turn Hurts The Cowboys' Defense

Gregory was ready to re-sign with the Cowboys but had a change of heart at the very last second. Apparently, a clause about lost money and salary forfeiture was enough to drive him away to Mile High:

"Gregory’s camp, via Ed Werder of ESPN, balked on salary forfeiture language they learned was in the deal after the defensive end agreed. The Broncos did not request the clause," reported ProFootballTalk.Cowboys Eye Von Miller As Gregory's Replacement

Now, Jerry Jones' team is reportedly eyeing veteran EDGE rusher, Von Miller, to fill in for Gregory:

"Whiff on Randy Gregory but I’m told there is a very strong interest on Von Miller’s part in coming to Dallas. Got a home very close to the facility," Jan Slater reported. "Are the #Cowboys pursuing Von Miller? “Doing due diligence” per source. There ya go folks. That might appease the fan base if they got this one done."Miller Grew Up A Cowboys Fan

It's not a secret that Miller grew up a Cowboys fan and even has a house near the team's facility, so the move makes sense. However, it's still unclear if they'll be willing to spend top-dollar on a soon-to-be 33-year-old:

"He grew up a Cowboys fans and implored Jerry Jones to trade up to get him in 2011 when he went second overall to the Broncos," ProFootballTalk added. "Miller, though, likely will want more — and can command more — than the deal Gregory received from the Broncos that the Cowboys were willing to pay. How high are the Cowboys willing to go?"DeMarcus Ware Wants Miller To Join The Cowboys

Former Cowboys star DeMarcus Ware is also doing his due diligence on Miller, trying to get him to join Micah Parsons on America's Team:

“Moves around the NFL: Russell Wilson going to Denver; Randy Gregory going to Denver,” Ware said in a video on Instagram. “There’s a missing spot in Dallas now. I just talked to Von Miller. Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence and Von Miller. Sounds good to me!”

Miller will continue to gauge a lot of interest in the market but the Cowboys should at least give him a call.
