NFL Rumors: Cowboys Star Micah Parsons Warns The League After Big Win Over WFT

The Dallas Cowboys had one of the worst defenses in the National Football League last season. They needed an anchor, someone would turn them around right away, and they found him in the Draft.

With the 12th overall pick, the Cowboys took Micah Parsons out of Penn State. He hasn’t even been around for a whole season and it’s already clear that he’s not only the best rookie in the league but also a generational talent to build around for years to come.

Parsons Says The Best Is Yet To Come For The Cowboys

Parsons plays with hunger, poise, and confidence. Despite his youth and lack of experience, he looks like a man among children and knows what he’s capable of and only gets better as the weeks go by.

Moreover, he still believes that the Cowboys’ defense is far from its peak and that they will improve towards the end of the season:

“The best is yet to come. I think this is just the beginning," the rookie told the press, as quoted by Jon Machota.

Micah Wants Other Players To Be Compared To Him

Already drawing comparisons to NFL great Lawrence Taylor, Parsons says that he wants to be the player other defenders are compared to one day:

“I think LT is one of the greatest pass rushers of all time, but I want to be my own person,” Parsons said, per ProFootballTalk. “My own man. I want people to be like, ‘You pass rush like Micah."

And judging by what he’s accomplished through his first 12 games in the season, that’s not far-fetched to think at all.

Versatility Is The Key To Parsons' Success

Parsons has been the jack of all trades for the Cowboy’s defense. Whether it is lining up in the middle or rushing the passer, he just can do it all:

“I think what’s creating so much havoc is because I’m able to line up at those different places,” the rookie star said. “Certain scenarios would be better to be on the ground and certain scenarios would be better at linebacker. It’s really just about the opportunity and the team that you’re going against.”

Ryan Clark Says Parsons Is The Best Defender In The League

That versatility has made him a stalwart around defensive players already, at least according to former NFL star Ryan Clark:

"No disrespect to your favorite defensive player, but he ain’t @MicahhParsons11. He’s not only the best rookie PERIOD, but he’s the best defensive player in the league. He’d have 20 sacks if he just rushed, or 130 tackles if he only played middle! He might be the best at both!" Clark tweeted.

According to CBS Sports, Parsons has created pressure in 21.5% of his snaps, way more than stars of the likes of Joey and Nick Bosa, Von Miller, J.J. Watt, and even Aaron Donald during their rookie seasons; so thinking about Defensive Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year isn’t off the table for the Penn State product.
