TWO Liberator bombers circled high above the Borneo jungle, searching for a break in the dense tree cover. At last, they spotted it: a flat plain, on a plateau, suitable for a parachute landing. No sooner had they done so than a swirling mist obscured it and the aircraft had to circle until they could get another glimpse.
