U.S. prepares for influx of migrants at Mexico border as Title 42 COVID restrictions lift

The Biden administration intends to lift Title 42 — a COVID-19 border restriction put in place in 2020 as the pandemic hit — on Thursday at 11:59 p.m. ET. That’s when the U.S. COVID-19 public health emergency officially ends. Title 42, put in place by former president Donald Trump, led many migrants to be turned away.
