You Dirty Old Man book claims writers snub Wilfrid Bramwell due to Broadway run

BRITAIN’S most famous rag and bone man was almost killed off from TV sitcom Steptoe And Son, a book has claimed. A biography of actor Wilfrid Brambell says the show’s writers, Ray Galton and Alan Simpson, conceived a spin-off without his character Albert Steptoe because he was busy in a show on Broadway.
